This procedure can be used to check Smart.net and DC250 systems
When you present a card (token) check the LED. It will do one of the following:-
The LED does nothing, it is off
The reader has no power
Check for correct voltage. If power is correct the reader may faulty. Check the reader in another location if possible.
The LED flashes GREEN very briefly (then back to RED)
In this case the reader and controller are not communicating
Try the reader in a different location (ie connect it to a known working controller. If the same problem exists, it may be that the reader is formatted incorrectly (this can occur if it gets a voltage spike). Reformat the reader using 1386RCC cards. This will change the format from Weigand to Clock and Data (required for SRS systems)
The LED flashes GREEN 3 times (then back to RED)
In the case the reader and controller are working correctly but the card used is not valid.
The LED turns GREEN for a few seconds (then back to RED)
time determined by the lock timer
In this case the controller has correctly responded to the card presentation. If the lock will not operate you should check the wiring of the electric locking device.
Check if one of the buttons is jammed (Do they all mechanically 'click' as you press them)
If all buttons operate but there is no sound
Sounder is faulty - replace keypad
Keypad is faulty - replace keypad
If the keypad will still not
Reset the Program (Engineer) Code
Remove power from the keypad
Depress and hold the Star button
Whilst the star button is depressed reconnect the power
You will hear a tone which lasts for approx. 2 seconds.
Let go of the star button
Enter 4 digits (0 - 9) into the keypad
This is the new Program (Engineer) code.
Does this new code work?
Yes - continue
No
Disconnect everything from the keypad terminals except for power and repeat the above
Were you able to reset the Program (Engineer) code?
Yes
It is likely that the keypad circuit board is being upset by an external source.
Make sure that the connections are correct and in particular check that the lock release has a Tranzil fitted.
If connected to gate automation system, insert a relay bewteen the keypad and the gate automation control to prevent further spikes damaging the keypad electronics
